June

The third workshop in the 2012 SKILL! Programme took place in London on Tuesday 19th June, hosted by international law firm Simmons & Simmons at their offices in the City of London.  We welcomed over 40 students from three schools across the Capital, who spent the day working with 20 mentors from our corporate partners.

Facilitated by SKILL! founder Patrick Philpott and ex-ITN newsreader Katie Ledger, the workshop gave students an opportunity to work with mentors to devise and pitch ideas for social enterprises.  With Katie’s intensive communication and presentation skills training, students developed concise pitches of their concepts and presented to a panel of entrepreneurs and business experts, including recruitment entrepreneur Porteur Keene and Simmons & Simmons’s Group Finance Director, David McLaughlin.

Students also heard an inspiring keynote from entrepreneur James Uffindell, the founder and CEO of Bright Network.  James shared his story, from when he started his first business whilst at University, through to the present day as CEO of an online network connecting bright graduates with top employers.  With his career spent in working in recruitment, James also shared some practical advice to the students on how to find a job in today’s challenging employment market.

Our next workshop in London is taking place in October.  If you would like to attend the workshop, please contact us on info@visionpath.co.uk.
